Phuket is the largest island in Thailand and covers an impressive 543 square km’s that includes beautiful white sands, a stunning coastline and an energetic nightlife. It has plenty to offer travellers who are eager to experience the culture, food and less visited places.
We’ve put together highlights you should not miss if you’ve only 7 days on the island, including Phuket boat tours and spa treatments.
Day One – Hit the Beach
The best beaches for swimming and sunbathing are on the west coast of Phuket. In the north are the quiet Naithon, Nai Yang and Mai Khao, and Bang Tao and Surin where the beaches are long and wide. Patong Beach is crowded most of the time with jet-skis and tourists, and then in the south are Karon, and Kata and Nai Harn.
Day Two – Explore Phuket Town
Stroll along the streets of Phuket Town and enjoy the colourful Sino-Portuguese mansions and cute shop houses. Feast on stir-fried noodles, dim sum or pancakes, and have a cold beer at one of the tiny bars on Dibuk Road. Book a guided heritage tour for a more in-depth look at Phuket’s culture and history.
Day Three – Learn a New
Why not learn to do something new whilst you’re in Phuket? The island is well-known for teaching scuba diving and there’s lots of schools offering courses. Or join a Thai cooking class, you could even try a yoga class or sign up for a Muay Thai boxing lesson.
Day Four – Phuket Snorkelling Tours
A holiday in Phuket isn’t complete without a trip out on a boat, whether it’s on a traditional long-tail boat or a fancy speedboat. An excursion to Phang Nga Bay features some truly remarkable scenery and the snorkelling is out of this world.
Day Five – Visit the Big Buddha
The Big Buddha has been a work in progress for more than 10 years and is worth a visit for the views as well as the atmosphere. It’s a spiritual place that attracts thousands every week. The structure stands at 45m high and you can write your name on a marble tile and become part of this magical place.
Day Six – Treat Yourself to a Massage or Spa
Massage, spa’s and saunas abound in Phuket and they are so cheap that you should indulge at least once. Nothing quite beats a beach massage with thesounds of the ocean to accompany it. Why not spoil yourself and book a pampering session at a resort spa?
Day Seven – Soak up the Sunset
Phuket has a different sunset every day and nearly everyone heads to the beach or viewpoint around 6pm to catch the view. Join a Sunset Phuket on board MV Phuket Champagne, you can snorkel and chill out with a refreshing drink whilst watching the sun go down in a truly beautiful location. What better way to end your 7 days?
