Ko Phi Phi Don and Ko Phi Phi Leh are exactly what you imagine a tropical island paradise to be, a stunning vision just like in the movies. About 46km from Phuket it’s very likely you’ve heard of them already as they were featured in the movie, The Beach, starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Now famous throughout the world everyone wants to visit, not only for their beauty but also the snorkeling and diving opportunities and scenic boat tours.

Phi Phi Island

What’s the best way to get from Phuket to Phi Phi Island?

Daily Ferry to Phi Phi

The ferry is by far the most poPhi Phi Ferrypular method of reaching the islands. The trip takes around two hours from Phuket and is worth it just for the scenery. There are two floors, the lower deck has seats
and air-con, and the upper deck is perfect for catching some sun.

There are two ferry terminals that operate to the islands. One is located at Rassada Pier in Phuket Town, four boats a day leave from here to Tonsai Pier, the first at 8.30am and the last at 3pm.

The ferry can get pretty busy in the high season so make sure you leave plenty of time to get there and buy a ticket. If you’re staying at a hotel or bungalows try to buy tickets beforehand, and they should come and pick you up. This saves you the trouble of finding a taxi to take you to the pier.

There’s also another ferry company that organizes Phuket boat trips that leaves from Sea Angel Pier in Phuket Town. There is only one ferry a day from here and it leaves at 8 in the morning.

Speedboat to Phi Phi

Take a speedboat to Phi Phi and you’ll get there in under an hour. It costs quite a bit more than the ferry but makes sense for larger groups as the cost can be split between everyone rent a boat from Phuket. Speedboat companies will pick you up from your hotel in Phuket and take you around the sights of Phi Phi for the day.

Phi Phi Charter

There’s a much more relaxed and chilled way to see Phi Phi Island if you’re only planning on going for a day trip. Hop on board MV Phuket Champagne, and sail over the ocean at a leisurely pace. This large wooden boat cruises there twice a week and the difference is that they show you the beauty of the area, and do their best to take you to places where there are no crowds of tourists.
