Phuket is the largest island in Thailand and home to thousands of expats who have fallen in love with it. There are international schools and hospitals, first-class shopping centres and cuisine from all over the world.
Well-known for its fabulous beaches and Phuket cruise views, the island has many other different aspects to it. Here, we are going to tell you a little about some of the activities you can do to get healthy.
Practise Yoga
Phuket is a great place to practise yoga and there’s lots of options available, including Ashtanga, Hot Yoga, and Hatha yoga classes. There are independent yoga teachers that have their own studios with scheduled daily classes, or can be booked privately for 1-to-1 sessions. Lots of the top resorts also offer classes now, expect the best ones to have panoramic sea views or even teach on the beach.
Massage & Spa Treatments
Many resorts offer health packages on-site to include massage, spa, sauna and herbal and aromatic treatments. Some resorts have private spa suites so you don’t even have to move from your accommodation. How’s that for total relaxation?
It’s not necessary to spend big bucks to indulge yourself however. There are also plenty of great day spas that are more affordable, and just as professional.
Island Detox
Detox is big news and there are a lot of places that offer accommodation and food alongside keep fit and cleansing programmes. If you want to detox and are also thinking where to stay in Phuket, then two popular wellness centres in the south of the island are Atmanjai and Atsumi.
Atmanjai has an excellent location right on the beachfront. They offer an extensive list of detox packages, therapists and health treatments. Atsumi also have a wide range of programs with trained therapists and a consultant menu.
We also must mention Santosa in Kata as it’s a favourite of ours. Perched high on the mountain road it has fantastic views over Kata Noi Beach, and a delicious raw and vegan menu. They have various detox programs, yoga, cardio classes and even zumba classes.
Spiritual Awakening
At the Phuket Meditation Centre the focus is on mindfulness. There’s yoga and free meditation sessions. It’s the ideal place to unwind and de-stress the mind and body. Meditation workshops are often held at sunrise on a mountain top which is quite an incredible experience.
Thanyapura is another venue that give sessions on meditation and mindfulness. They welcome anyone searching for meaning and fulfilment, keen to work on their physical performance, or who just want to feel less anxiety and stress.
MV Champagne Phuket is a traditional fishing boat that has been lovingly refurbished. It’s a boat to relax and enjoy the time when out on the waters on an boat tour in Phuket .
