Part of the fun of being on holiday is staying up late and enjoying the nightlife. The great thing about Phuket is that it’s so hot during the day that it’s nice to wander around in the evening when it’s a lot cooler and see what’s going on. Here are just a few ideas of places to visit at night after a lazy day on a Phuket cruise.
The Infamous Bangla Road
Bangla Road is famous as the centre of Phuket’s nightlife, there is nowhere else quite like it. If you like to party then Patong is where you need to be, and Bangla Road is the main drag. The walking street has bars and clubs with girls dancing around poles, ladyboys trying to grab your attention and hawkers showing off their goods.
The place is crazy but if it’s a thrill you are after then this is worth a look. The road and the side streets are packed with beer bars and nightclubs, go-go bars, hawkers, traders, and street performers and the further back you go the seedier it gets. If you’ve still got the energy after Bangla Road then head to Seduction nightclub and dance until the early hours of the morning.
The Phuket Town Scene
The scene in Phuket Town is completely different to the beach areas. This is where the locals like to hang out and there are plenty of small bars with live music to enjoy. It’s a lot more laid back in town and is worth the trip out for a different and local taste of Phuket.
An eclectic range of restaurants makes it an interesting place to go for a meal before heading to one of the numerous bars or wine bars for some live music or dancing. Timber Hut is an old favourite with a great in-house band that plays a mix of popular western and Thai songs.
Sunset Bars
With beautiful beaches and stunning sunsets, it’s no wonder Phuket has so many bars and restaurants on the west coast to sit and watch the sun go down.
On Kata mountain, you’ll find Sabai Corner down a windy road where the views over Kata Noi are panoramic and the food good. Whilst up near Layan Beach, 360 degrees transports you up the mountain side in a golf cart, well worth the effort as the views over Phuket are mind-blowing.
